one of the first humans was born in darkness, there was no sun or light to guide him as he began to grow up in the cold his chances of survival seemed slim. one day as he looked up towards the stars a white glare blinded him, he shielded his eye and when he opened them again his whole world changed and standing in front of him was a golden colored mare. she reared suddenly and galloped away bringing the light wherever her hoofs touched. the man stood up and took in the colors that he hadn't seen before and enjoyed the warmth the sun brought, he began to feel life course through his veins and believed that he could survive. after weeks of unending light the humans had started to rebel the mare wherever she went trying to tie her down and cover her brightness as it had become too much for them, one man a shaman of sorts had woven a large sheet and threw it up high in the air as it slowly floated down to the earth a form started to grow underneath in its darkness. the golden mare watched in shock as it when it almost touched the ground the form of another horse filled its shape. the shaman whipped the sheet back and there laid a dark horse with minimal markings, the mare broke free and tried to attack the abomination that was created but she frightened the new life and it fled bringing darkness to wherever his hooves touched. the tribe of humans rejoiced as darkness spread and day began to blend into it creating the first sunset. before the tribesman could notice the mare fled the way that the dark being went in her quest to catch and destroy his darkness. there began the transition to day and night a perfect mix of bright and dark. the humans began to be more active during the day and slept at night and the shaman was revered as the first god of humans as he had created the night to balance the day.
one day the mare slowed down her chase as she had come across a most beautiful flower field, she wanted to enjoy the scenery for a change and grew tired chasing her counterpart, as she continued to gaze at the fauna she noticed the sky getting darker and looked up to see a dark stallion. she had never seen anything like him in her life and wondered if it was possible to be the same scrawny colt that fled from her on the day of his creation. "you must be moving now." his booming voice sent shivers down her pelt. she took in his appearance as he began to walk slowly to her, his dark blue color shimmering with white specks that looked like tiny stars down his neck and over his stomach. his icy blue pools stared her down as she continued drinking him in, it was almost overwhelming how his towering body stood over her and the cool that the night brings touched her and made her shiver once more as she was not used to such temperatures. she was hypnotized by his eyes as he looked at her as well and she felt a pull towards him that she couldn't explain. hadn't she hated his existence? didn't she chase him off and start this chase of cat and mouse and now that he was finally here she could've attacked him, but she didn't, she couldn't. she leaned in closer to him, almost touching the end of his muzzle when a roar sounded to their left and the stallion of night immediately moved in front of the small mare and reared hitting a creature she had never seen before. she saw movement out of the corner of her eye and saw another of the creature moving in on the flank of the stallion. "get out of here!" he shouted at her, but it only made her freeze more she tried to move her legs but she couldn't. what the heck were those things? she turned her head from the stallions direction to in front of her and came face to face with another one. it was so dark that she could not make out its form, even though the sky was still lit these things were hard to see, but still you could see it dripping and oozing a substance onto the ground killing whichever it touched, scorching the earth. a sound was made from it and it lunged at airen, but she didn't have any time to make a move as it grabbed onto her and took her to the ground. her neck burned by its touch as she screamed out and quickly izark removed the void off of her. tears ran down her face as the pain shot out across her body, "it burns!" she tried to get up to leave the area quickly but the pain kept her down. izark defeated the last of the voids and ran them off towards the darkness that started to take over as the suns presence began to leave the sky. "hold still." his calm voice came out almost like a whisper against her sobs, yet she obeyed and stayed as still as she could. the stallion looked at the mark the void had left and placed his lips over it and began to suck the poison out and spit it out after each time. when he finished she laid down next to airen and cursed. "we have been together for too long, the sun is beginning to slip away.." airen looked up to the sky and saw that it started to get darker as the colors changed from a pink to a purple to a blue. "who are you? what were those..those things?" "shh, i will tell you about it all next time" izark placed his head next to hers and watched as she slowly fell out of consciousness...
slowly she opened her light blue eyes, the light blinding her for a moment. when she was fully awake she suddenly threw her head up looking around her for the danger of last night. she was in the same spot but with no trace of the events that happened or even hoofprints left by night stallion. had she really seen that? those creatures who were so dark her eyes even had trouble seeing them, had she made that all up? the one thing she had come to hate in this world was that stallion of night but why did she feel attracted to him? if that was real she could have easily killed him, then the sun would never have to set. She lifted her body up and felt all the aches that came with sleeping on the ground. Or even sleeping at all, she hasn't remembered the last time she did that. She looked around for a sign of life but it was quiet and empty. The wind slowly blew across the plains and when she turned her head she noticed that the sun had started falling. That boy was close. It was a good thing too because she needed answers and was going to get them from him. Airen watched in awe as the sky turned colors from the light blue to a pink and purple even orange and red were in there, She was so focused on the sky that she didnt notice the cold breath next to her as he extended his muzzle to touch her golden coat. Airen snapped her head to him and backed away quickly. "What were you doing?!" The dark stallion turned his head away in embarrassment. "Nothing, getting your attention." Actually he was trying not to disturb her it had been ages since he had touched her and she looked immortal staring at the sky with no movement except her mane and tail blowing quietly. She calmed down and looked at him, he was exactly like her dream had pictured. It was darker in her vision than now so he shimmered in what sunlight remained. It was like he was carved from diamonds as every facet of him glittered. "Are you real?" She blurted out unsure if she was dreaming again. He chuckled lightly, "Ren I wish you were dreaming..." The stallions words came out with his chuckle but had a tone of sadness to them. "Ren?" She caught him, how did he know her name to even make a nickname from it? "How do you know my name?" Shocked by her quick wit he tried to quickly think of a retort. "Everyone knows of the goddess Airen. Don't you know my name?" This time it was her turn to be shocked, everyone knew her? She was a goddess? "No I do not know your name." He smiled, "My name is Izark and now you won't forget it." She pinned her ears down on her head, who was this kid? Thinking he was her world or something! "Well Izark, was it?" The stallion nodded. "Why are you here?" He nodded once more thinking about his response. He began to circle her, "That is a long story that involves you but you don't remember. Would you like to?" "No not really" He was taken aback by her quick response. "Trust me you will." And with that he disappeared from her sight. What the heck was with him?! Who would want anything to do with him! But within herself she knew that she had feelings for him and she didn't know why.
