"Pick this shit up right now!" Ella jumped at the sudden noise and looked behind her to see her Foster Mom coming closer as she extended her hand up in the air and brought it quickly down connecting to Ella's right cheek. She fell on the ground as a result of the impact, cradling her face as the pain spread throughout. "Yes right away." Her voice shaking managed to get out. "When does your job start?" The woman questioned as Ella began to pick up the books she was reading for her homework assignment. She didn't know that she would be coming home early today and she hadn't done her other chores yet, something she would pay for later. "Girl, did you hear a word I said?!" She cowered down onto the floor afraid of another punishment. "My job starts at 3!" She screamed out in a pleading manner, hoping the answer would satisfy her. "When you finish cleaning that, leave for your work." Ella nodded and quickly she picked up the rest of the room and her bathroom then left for work. Her job was her saving grace, she was given five to six hours of freedom and the best part was working with horses. Her parents had owned a stable when she was little and she remembered riding every day and having so much fun, but when her mother died everything went downhill. Her father left and sold the stables leaving Ella to a family member that dropped her off at an orphanage after only a few days. Leaving Ella to the government and these horrible families that somehow manage to foster children.
Shaking her head from her thoughts she ran across the street to the stable grounds and entered the locker room. Unknown to her foster parents she wasn't just a employee who mucked out stalls and did all the housework like they thought she was, she was a trainer and rider for the stable. It all started when Cooper asked her if she could ride, all she could do was nod silently. Jumping was her favourite as it felt like she could fly and that she was free to do whatever she wanted when her feet, or her ride, set on the ground again. Immediately he asked the owners to have her on the training staff. "Hey Ella!" One of the boarders waved at her and she walked over, smiling brightly. "Hey Charlie, how are you?" The two females started chatting as Charlie started grooming and tacking up her horse. "Well, we are all ready to hit the trails, talk to you next time L!" "Bye!" When the pair turned away from sight Ella made her way to the office to see what Coop was up to. "Hey -" The older man looked at her and silenced. "What?" She felt like he was going to scold her or something. "Did you get hit by something?" Ella moved towards the desk where a silver trophy sat and picked it up looking at her reflection. The whole side of her face was purple from where she was slapped earlier. "Yeah I ran into a door, silly me" She laughed it off and put the trophy back on the surface. "Anyway, what do you have for me today" She smiled and sat down in the seat across from him. "Well I was told that Eric Wilmington is coming today for a private lesson, so please go ahead and warm up Kit." Ella nodded and cheerily headed for the door, but stopped before exiting. "Oh Coop I forgot, I saw Mio arrive when I got here." She chuckled as she watched his face turn red at the mention of Mio. "Whatever I don't care if she is here or not!" Ella ran out before he could chuck something at her as her laugh echoed down the hallway.
"Hello Handsome." She cooed at the stunning Dapple Gray Hanoverian. Kit whinnied at her as he always did when she came to his stall. She unlatched the door and swung it open grabbing his halter and walking him out and rounding him to face the stall window. She grabbed the hanging lead rope clipped it to the halter. She began to brush him down and finish his other grooming needs. She took a spray bottle filled with water and misted his mane. Her fingers laced his mane into small, separate braids and then rolled them up into balls on the top of his neck. She left momentarily to retrieve his tack. When he was all done she patted his neck and slipped him a sugar cube. "Well, Mr. Kit you are looking as Handsome as a Prince!" She laughed as he bobbed his head in agreement. Then she took off his halter and while holding his head she slipped on his bridle and fed him the bit. When everything was tightened and he was all tacked up she led him out to the large outdoor arena. Some other pairs were working on one side of the ring but it was always open to everyone and she would have the jumps free to warm Kit up.
When inside the arena she hopped on up and settled into the seat. Kit stood patiently waiting for a command. She slightly squeezed his sides and he walked forward. They stayed at that pace until she felt him anxiously pull at the bit requested for a faster pace. She didn't speed him but instead waited until he calmed and then rewarded him by quickly passing through a trot and cantering around the arena. He eased up on the bit even more and she directed him to the jumps in the center. Kit effortlessly jumped the fence and caught the attention of the group at the end of the arena. They moved through the rest of the course with ease and then she slowed Kit down to a walk. The group of youngsters applauded but then directions of cooling down led them to the rail. Ella decided to join them in the cool down and she let the reins slack lay on Kit's neck. Cooper usually comes out to collect Kit and takes him to a private arena where the rich baby probably just does whatever he wants. Ella sighed but she had never seen this Eric guy. And Cooper never complained about him, she just knew his family made donations to the stable and they were filthy rich. When the group was let out she dismounted Kit and flipped his reins over his head. She looked up and caught the sight of the most beautiful man she had ever seen. His blue eyes made her melt and his tan skin and well kept hair made him seem like a model. Was there someone who looked like this here? She took in a breath not realizing she had stopped and looked over at Kit. Well whatever she never had a chance with him. She looked over at the man and realized he had entered the arena and was heading towards her. Kit had become more alert now holding up his head higher and keeping alert on the stranger.
"Ella I presume?" His voice floated to her and she had to remember that her name was indeed Ella. He made it seem unworthy to her. Her thoughts swirling around her head kept words from her so she nodded and he smirked. "Is Kit ready?" She looked at the grey equine and back at the man. "Are you Mr. Wilmington?" "Yes, but you can call me Eric." She smiled and looked at Kit. Such a fitting pair, both handsome men. "You have an amazing horse here and he is all ready for today." She patted his neck and looked over at Eric. "Well he was the best money can buy. We must be going now, Thank you." He grabbed the reins from her, causing Kit to jerk his head up and he hopped up on the stallions back and kicked him into a canter leaving her in the dust behind. They jumped the arena fence and made their way to the back arena. She rolled her eyes and walked out of the arena. "Men..."

December was a month to celebrate at the stables, well not only the stables but the whole town loved to celebrate the whole last month of the year.
